Almost all of our 12 inch Albums will include a basic plain or printed inner sleeve to protect the record. However unless explicitly mentioned in this listing a inner sleeve is not considered as part of this purchase. The fun we had back then, when we toured and recorded together, holds fabulous and special memories. I'm thrilled to think they'll be up there on the great UK concert hall stages with me once again. Although it did not feature any bonus tracks, the album was remastered from the original master tapes, and featured faithfully restored artwork with additional sleeve notes.
The second and third discs feature live tracks from the band's concert at the Hammersmith Odeon on 14 April The minute DVD features footage of the same concert. In August , a gram vinyl reissue of the album was released in the Netherlands by Music on Vinyl. Upon release, Record Mirror commented: "Forget No 1 singles; this will change everything.
In nine songs, Harley wipes out his two-album apprenticeship with a stunning change of direction and commitment. It is a coming of age, a political and religious protest, a brilliant snap-book for a generation, a puzzle. In short, this third album demands attention. It is completely fulfilling, a monster unleashed. Taken overall it is a great improvement on his previous efforts. This album is as full of ideas as the first stemming wholely from the unique vocal talent.
He is grinning like a madman! The ending of 'Sling It ' is unbelievable. It's a shame the DVD is a little butchered and only represents a few numbers, but boy is it classic footage.
The bowler hat, the mad eyes, everything that makes the man such a brilliant performer is there for all to see.
This film was actually a 'B' feature in the cinema at the time if you are wondering where or why it has been edited in this manner. The only clumsy bit is the intro, with a few fan's actually voicing approval that Steve is better than 'Bowie', some chance, and that 'Bowie' is too old and has disappeared! Some people never know do they! All in all though, this is an excellent package and well worth the money. Just a little afterthought, a journalist friend of mine interviewed Steve last week June and he said Steve has plans for a complete show playing this album in full, hopefully together with 'Timeless Flight' my personal favourite , fittingly the next two albums in the sequence carrying on from his current show which features the first two a la 'Birmingham'.
Like the mans surname, 'Nice! The album was a good one. The electric violin that so dominated the first two albums had gone, as had half the original band. A new band in place saw a slightly more polished, pop sensitive sound with those two singles and tracks like "Mad, Mad Moonlight" and "Panorama".
The album has been remastered perfectly. It will never sound better than this. Great stuff. Harley seems pretty wired throughout, high on his own success and God knows what, a feeling confirmed with the DVD live clips that are, of their time, shall we say. Quite amusing are the brief interviews with fans at the gig.
Well, maybe for that one evening in April he just was. One person found this helpful. Great to own these albums on the new gm vinyl.
Many thanks to these people for reproducing these classic but niche pieces of works. Vicky was a type of person who would dominate a conversation, like most record industry people at that time.
I do remember that she chain-smoked, and had a heavy European accent. I remember she had someone else present serving as an engineer on the session. Quality control should have caught it, but never did, and it was pressed anyway. Who is Slusser? She was Nikki Slusser.
She was a year behind me at Kennedy and we were in a creative writing class together. Duncan is a guitarist, vocalist, comedian and song writer and now spends most of the year performing on cruise ships.
Using song parodies, funny voices and a lot of one-liners, for the next decade I was a road comic. I grew up here.
